Favorite Stores: Week 2

Week 2 favorite store is going American Apparel.  I have only been to one of their stores when I was in Charleston a couple of years ago but since then, I have bought a few dress and t-shirts from them. Here are a few of my favorite items they have right now.

Four of my friends have borrowed this dress and all four have tried to steal it. And the try is the key word here. That dress does something where it make everyone look good. My friends and I are all different sizes and heights but the dress looks good on all of us. Here are some more dresses that I have been wanting:

I also like their skirts, t-shirt, and accessories too.

I was trying post this sooner but thanks to blogger/the computer I am using, it has taken me 3 hours to post this.
Until next time.

Oh, how time flies

I can't believe this weekend is already over. Right now I wish I would have gone to grad school so at least I could prolong adulthood for another 2 more years (which mean I would have been in school for tens years with three degrees which isn't a bad thing) but anywho, besides doing most of my To-Do list I decided to make some things.

For some reason I was really craving crab, so I made a crab appretizer and I made a dish that I found in Food and Wine magazine. The appretizer was one that I made before but I added crab to it. I usually has bacon in it with the chive and onion cream cheese but I used the crab instead this time.

You mix all that together, cook it for 15 minutes at 375 degrees and they end up looking like this

And the for dinner I made an item called Buttery Crab Bread Pudding. You need:
  • 10 ounces lump crabmeat
  • 1 tablespoon of parsley and chives (I used green onion though)
  • 2 teaspoons of lemon juice
  • a pinch of cayenne pepper (I used a spice mix that included cayenne pepper)
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 24-inch bagette
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup half and half
-Preheat the oven to 350, butter the dish and mix the crab meat with the first 5 ingredents.
-Then you slice the baguette, buttering each side. Using a spoon, take the crab mixture evenly between the slices of bread.
-After that, mix the last four ingredents in a bowl forming a custard.

-Pour the custard evenly over the bread and let stand for 10 mintues.
-Bake the bread pudding for 30 minutes until the top is lightly browned and the custard is set.

-Let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.

And then I made a cake today after finishing the rest of my list. I'll probably post pictures of the at some point but it's a white cake with strawberry jam and fresh strawberries as the filling.

Well, the weekend is over :( and here's to the start of another work week.

With the ridiculous weather down here (I mean there techinally was has not been a winter), I have been in a skirt mood. I think its because I know spring is right around the corner. Here are a few of the skirts I like right now:
Tiny Dots Skirt    Paused Movements Skirt    Fading Skirt

                            Mountain Time A-Line

ECI Striped Skirt   City mini in linen
I love wearing skirts year round because you can through tights and boots in the winter/fall with it or sandals in the spring/summer.

Favorite Stores: Week 1

I think every Tuesday I am going to post about some of my favorite stored. One of my goals (I wish I had a large abundance of money to do this now) is travel for a whole year and see the world. Looks like that is not going to happen soon so the closes I am going to get to that is World Market. I am a little bit obsessed with the store, so much that they are starting to know my face in the store since I am there every weekend I am in town. Just wanted to post some of my favorite items in the store right now.

Palampore Table Runner | World Market
I love this runner. It makes me think about the spring. Not only that its' reversible and there are matching napkins to go with it.

Blue Palampore Napkins, Set of 4 | World Market        Ivory Palampore Napkins, Set of 4 | World Market
And I am loving some of there dinnerware too:

I clearly need to stop looking at this stuff because I can't go into the store without buying anything.
If you have never been in a World Market, you will find yourself having the same issue I do:you want to buy everything.

New Beginnings

I have decided that since it is a new year that it is also a new beginning for my blogging. With that said, I am going to stay true to myself here and not try to be one of the "Cool Kids". Starting this new decision in my "Blog Life" (I like quotation marks, if you have not noticed) is this post. Last Sunday was the Oscars, which I missed but this is fitting with the season (actually a tad bit late, but better late then never). I am going to talk about some of my favorite movies.
I am kinda the anti-girl in a sense:never seen The Notebook (by my own choosing), saw Titanic for the first time almost 10 years after it came out. For some reason, I have never been into the love story, happy ever after movies. However, there is one of my favorit movies that would be consider a "love story" just based purely on the name and some of the stories that are happening in it.

Before I go on an "Why I hate those unrealistic views of love and relationships movies" I am going to start the list:

1:Clueless

This is a sign of when I grow up that this is my favorite movie. Literally, my favorite movie ever!!! Yes, its cheesy and some of the acting is so so but I love it. Wanted a white jeep wrangler as my first car after seeing that movie. Even have the soundtrack that I got when it came out in 95' and yes, I still listen to it. Wish I had a closet like Cher's even now.

2:The Godfather

Great storytelling, great acting, the kind of movies that once you start watching the first one you have to watch the rest to see what is going to happen. Spent almost five hours yesterday watching it on AMC (yes, I need to find something better to do with my Saturdays). And there is a small love story in there, but that does not end to good. If you have seen them you know exactly what I am talking about, if you have seen them you should watch them along with Godfellas (on the list) and The Untouchables.

3:Animal House

Have seen this movie more times that I can count. Can even quote lines from it. Still laugh every time I see it. I appreciate because it is the original college comedy. There would be a whole genre gone if this movie was not made (no Old School, Road Trip, Going Greek which I think I am the only person who has seen that movie besides my friend's I forced to watch it).
4.Goodfellas

I like mob movies, if you have not noticed yet. Goodfellas is one those you can clearly tell was made closer to when they started using more blood and violence in the last eighties. Lots of people getting shot, things being set on fire/blown up. Crazy thinking about the fact that movie is based on a true story.

5:Love Actually

I DO NOT like movies that are centered around love but I love this movie. Maybe it is because it is a realistic look at love where everyone does not end up with someone or it could be the small crushes I have on Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. It's a good movie with good story telling and it gives you hope that your love life will workout even if it is a mess sometimes.

There are a whole lot more including Caddyshack and Sixteen Candles but those are the 5 movies that when they come on television I still watch them even though I know what is coming. I like comedies and drama but we all have out preferences. Next movie list is going to be about my favorite documentaries because I am that girl.
