Thoughtful Thursday

Hello all,
It is time for another Thoughtful Thursday. This was going to go up sooner but my boyfriend broke his phone late last night. Of course he acted like the world was ending i.e. I ended up riding with him all over the city to get a new phone (which he still hasn't gotten yet since he's at work). Anyway, here are some thoughts for today for y'all
This is it. <3

Dot and Bo

It's funny how with design as with fashion everything cycles back around. I would describe my style a mixture of a number of styles and periods.
A while back I discovered Dot & Bo on one of the many design and fashion newsletters that I get daily. They sell some mid century furniture along with accessories for different areas of the home. Right now they have a couple of pieces that I would love to get. Some of the pieces are a little pricey but its nice to look and get inspiration from those.
Here are some my favorite items:

I will probably try to make one or two of the items above. At some point before the summer ends, I am going to do a DIY project so, when I finish it (or decide which one I am going to make) I'll post it.

Are there any projects that anyone else is wanting to make before summer ends?

Working on it

This whole year summer one of the goals that I had was to get back into shape. Word of advice: once you turn 25, stop eating the good but unhealthy food and start exercising even if its' only for 30 minutes a day. With my "busy schedule" I have been looking at some exercises on pinterest that I can do at home.
Here are some of the exercise plans that I found and liked:

Thoughtful Thursday

This week I have spent most of it trying to catch up on sleep after only getting three hours on Sunday. I guess it was worth it since I did get to go to the  Luke Bryan concert Saturday night in Nashville for free. Yay for serving beer!!! Here are some inspirational quotes for this week from Pinterest:

Triple Dragon Berry Lemon Sangria

Hope everyone has had a great week so far. One of my goals for the rest of summer is to
try making some new things that I haven't before. One of those was sangria. Given, I did make some once in college one summer. It was ok but I never made it again after that one time.
I decided a while ago to try making it again after having some with one of my friend's at Bar Louie. They make a Strawberry Lemonade Sangria one that is delicious. So, I was originally was going to try my hand at making that one but I decided to try making my own.
The one at Bar Louie has SKYY Wild Strawberry, Ruffino Pinot Grigio, pure cane syrup, Sprite, fresh lemon and strawberries in it. Mine ended up being different because I used flavored rum instead of vodka, Woodbridge Pinot Grigio, and store-bought simple syrup from The Fresh Market.

Here is the recipe that I made. I know the name is a mouthful. Warning: I like my drink pretty strong so you can lower the amount of wine and rum that you put in to it to suit your taste.
1 1/2 glass of Woodbridge Pinot Grigio (chilled)
1 1/2 glass of Sierra Mist (chilled)
1 lemon, sliced,
2 cup of triple berry blend:strawberries, blueberries and raspberry (I used ones that were frozen but you can use fresh)
1 shot of simple syrup
1 shot of Dragon Berry Rum (I used 2 shots)
1. Add in the lemon slices and 2 cups of  fruit in pitcher.
3. Pour in the glass of wine and glass of Sierra Mist.
4. Add in the syrup and rum.
5. Stir all ingredients together.
I normally pour a shot after to taste it to make sure it is to my liking. I also garnish the glass with a lemon or strawberry slice depending on the mood I am in.
(I did one with a strawberry here).
To me, this is a perfect summer drink. It has the right amount of sweetness along with little kick to it.
Does anyone else have any drinks that they are interested in making this summer?

One Item, three ways: Biscuits as Appetizer

A few years ago my friend from college, Catie made this. She made it with Pillsbury croissant dough. As part of the one items: three ways series I am continuing with biscuits. I used them in the appetizer pizza recipe that I got from her ages ago. I did make some changes from the original that she made.

1 roll biscuits (using Grands)
1 1/2 cup mayo
1/2 cup sour cream with chives (I use Kroger brand)
1 8oz Neufchatel (softened)
1 1/2 cup ranch powder
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 head of chopped broccoli
1 1/2 cup mild cheddar cheese (shredded)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Open biscuits and place on greased baking sheet. Roll each biscuit out one at a time.
3. Once biscuits are all on the sheet, bake in oven at 350 for 15 minutes.
4. While the dough cooks, add together in a bowl the mayo, sour cream, Neufchatel, ranch powder, and garlic powder.
5. Mix all ingredients together until blended and mixture is smooth. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
6. Once dough is finished cooking, let set and cool for 10-12 minutes.
7. Clean the head of broccoli and chop into tiny pieces.
8. Once dough is cooled, take the ranch mixture and spread on the dough until completely covered.
9. Sprinkle the broccoli piece along with cheese on top of the pizza.
10. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until the spread has set.

This would be either a snack or an appetizer for a party.

Does anyone else have any appetizers that they make with biscuits??

Four berry protein smoothie

Lately, I have been loving a smoothie. I was going to the Juice Bar in my town for a hot minute but then I got super busy. More recently, I have been getting back in making smoothies again because they are easy to make and I can do that at home.

This recipe is the main one that I use:
1 1/2 cup 100% apple juice
1 cup spinach and kale salad mix
1 cup, plain unflavored yogurt
1 cup strawberries (frozen)
1 cup triple berries (frozen)
1 scoop GNC pro performance amp gold protein

I usually put the yogurt in first with half of the apple juice. Then, I add in the lettuce, frozen berries, the rest of the juice and protein. Using frozen berries help in that you do not have to add ice to it.

When I make this, I always end up having extra left over. I usually put half in my blender bottle and the other half in another drink container. This is great early in the morning and in the afternoon as a quick and easy drink.

Does anyone else have any smoothies or shakes that they like making?

Fourth of July treats

In case I haven't said it before: The Fourth of July is my favorite holiday. Maybe its the food or the parties.... I know what it is: its' my excuse to play with firework and eat pie, lots of it among other things.  With the holiday creeping up on us all, I decided I would post some things I was considering making.

Asos sale

By now it is clear that I love a good sale/deal. Right now Asos is having a sale where some items are up to 50% off. I'm trying to not buy anyone dresses or anything else, but it's hard when some of the items that I want (and a couple that I have) are on sale right now. Here are a few things that I have been eyeing trying not to buy:
"Trying to" talk myself out of buying these two.

This one comes in three colors. I can't decided whether I like the white or turquoise more.

I actually already own this dress in the black and red. Debating if I really "need" the white one.

This comes in white in all sizes and size 0 in the black. With it being summer though, I think the white one can be worn quite a bit.

Definitely have a small obsession with white at the moment along with dresses.

Did anyone else shop the Asos sale and find anything good that I misses?
